The employees of our university were decorated by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda. Twenty-seven people were honored with Crosses of Merit and 48 with Medals for Long Service. Meanwhile, 6 people received Medals of the National Education Commission for special contributions to education and upbringing - awarded by Barbara Nowacka, Minister of Education.
The 5th edition of the Executive MBA studies in health care at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics and the Medical University of Warsaw has come to its end. The ceremony of the diploma award to graduates of this program was held on Saturday, November 23, in the Main Auditorium of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. They celebrated their success with their families, the authorities of both universities and invited guests.
„Health visionaries & reformers” is a competition with awards for outstanding personalities who introduce changes in medicine and the health care system. The awards are granted twice a year by the editorial staff of Wprost and NewsMed magazines. In the November edition, the competition jury awarded the “Visionary of Health” 2024 Special Award to professor Anna Kostera-Pruszczyk, head of the Clinic of Neurology of the Medical University of Warsaw, and professor Leszek Czupryniak, head of the Clinic of Diabetology of the Medical University of Warsaw, was honored in the “Visionary Humanist in Medicine” category.
These are undoubtedly difficult and demanding studies. Therefore, during the graduation ceremony, many congratulations and words of appreciation could be heard. There were also words emphasizing the importance of the profession the graduates have chosen: - The slogan that 70% of medical decisions are based on laboratory results is repeated extremely often, but still seems to be just a slogan. Therefore, it is worth making our society aware that without laboratory diagnosticians, there would be no modern transplantology, oncology, endocrinology, nephrology, cardiology, hematology, pediatrics, in fact any medical specialty - said Prof. Olga Ciepiela, Vice Dean for Medical Analytics at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
ShanghaiRanking Consultancy has announced the results of the Global Ranking of Academic Subject (GRAS) 2024 - a prestigious ranking of the world universities by academic subjects. MUW was one of two Polish medical universities ranked in the “Medical Technology” subject. What's more, ranked 201-300, it is the leader in this subject, ahead of Jagiellonian University, which was ranked 301-400.
Their fates were intertwined with the history of Warsaw and our university. Jan, the older of the brothers, was a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine in Warsaw. Ignacy explored art at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Vilnius, and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. The exhibition prepared by the Museum of the History of Medicine MUW presents these two remarkable figures. The exhibition “Klukowski Brothers. Art and Medicine” can be viewed until January 30, 2025.
Worldwide, about 15 million newborns are born prematurely every year, in Poland - about 22,000. November 17 is their celebration - World Prematurity Day. To mark the occasion, all neonatology departments at MUW were decorated in purple, and some held unique meetings and educational workshops.
A ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace to award professor nominations. Among the academic teachers and employees of science and art who received nomination acts from the hands of President Andrzej Duda were professors from our university.
The University Clinical Center MUW won in the “Hospital Innovation - Medicine - Innovative Treatment” category in the 7th edition of the “Healthy Future - Inspirations” Competition.
