The Crystal Lancets are awarded in two categories at each of MUW's faculties. The Surveyors Crystal Lancet goes to the didactician with the highest grade point average in the Survey on Evaluation of Classes and Academic Teachers, and the Public Crystal Lancet goes to the didactician selected by direct student voting. In order to be nominated for the awards, it is necessary to get at least 20 student opinions in the survey for the past academic year and one of the highest averages in the department. This allows more than one didactician from each department to be decorated.
Before the student representatives presented the statues, they took the opportunity to thank the teachers who support them in their difficult medical studies, motivate them and help them find their own interests.
- We are happy to recognize those who every day with their hard work prove to us that education is also a passion and vocation - said Piotr Gronowski, Chairman of the Student Government Committee on Didactics, at the awards gala.
- Among the academic community of MUW there are didacticians who, with their passion and commitment, push the boundaries of traditional teaching, showing that true education is more than the transmission of knowledge. It's building bridges between theory and practice, it's supporting each of us to spread our wings and discover our potential. It's understanding our uneasy beginnings. I would like to emphasize that behind every award and nomination that will be presented today, there is not only commitment, but also a great passion for teaching and concern for students. It is these qualities that make you not only didacticians for us, but also guides and authorities - stressed Anna Kupczak, Chairwoman of the Student Government - I wish you that your passion for teaching never fades. And every day spent at the university brings much satisfaction and fulfillment. Together we can build a future full of knowledge, inspiration and shared successes.
Rector Professor Rafal Krenke, referring to his medical practice, pointed out that nothing motivates a doctor and gives as much pleasure as a patient who comes out of the hospital healthy as well as their happy family.
- It's uplifting and empowering to keep working. And here's an analogy: if we put our strength and a lot of commitment to teach students, and they want and can appreciate it, that's really great - the Rector said.
